Top Tips for Choosing a Wedding Venue in Ogden, Utah

It’s that time of year! Wedding season! Wedding season is like Christmas for us here at Rockwell Catering and Events. We get giddy around April like a kid on Christmas Eve. It’s during this time of year that we love helping people make memories they will have for the rest of their lives. It isn’t an easy job, but we feel confident in what we have to offer. We have catered hundreds of events all over the Salt Lake Valley and Utah Valley and even up into Wyoming. The events we have done have been everything from elegant sit down service with full china and silverware all the way down to simple dessert events for smaller groups. Whatever the event, we just love what we do!

As you prepare for your wedding in Ogden, Utah, we have a few tips when it comes to choosing the place you have your wedding ceremony or reception. There are many things to consider and some things you might not have thought about. Luckily, you have our experience on your side and we can let you in on the insider secrets.

Tip #1: Consider seating! The event venue you have chosen might surprise you in that they don’t provide tables and chairs. This is fine if you don’t mind paying for rentals. But most people don’t want to deal with the issue of renting and would just prefer to show up and have things set to go. Some venues might have tables and chairs but they might not be the style you are looking for. Be sure to check with the venue before you book and see if seating will be a problem.

Tip #2: Water access at outdoor venues in Ogden, Utah! This is a super important one for your caterer and even your florist. You might be surprised to learn that some venues don’t have water access and water needs to be brought in. This isn’t a problem if we know this is something we can plan on. But too often, we have come to a venue and found out there isn’t water access and it leave everyone scrambling a bit.

Tip #3: Electricity! This goes right along with tip #2. Sometimes we have to run extension cords for outdoor events. But once again, keep that in mind when you choose your venue in Ogden, Utah and let your vendors know ahead of time so they can plan.

Tip #4: Pictures! When you are choosing your venue, consider lighting for pictures. If the event is in the evening, the lighting at an indoor event venue might not be the most flattering or ideal for your photographer. Also, consider the time of day to be sure you are able to have the most ideal setting for catching perfect moments.

Tip #5: Amenities! Not all venues are the same. Some will have excellent bathrooms while others are a little more cramped. Some have rooms for the bride and groom to get ready while others don’t have anything at all. There also might be limited kitchen space which is important for your catering when it comes to staging. Make sure you event venue is equipped with the needed facilities so your event runs smoothly.
