RECIPE FOR GRILLED TRI-TIP STEAK
1½ teaspoons kosher salt
1 teaspoon ground pepper
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon onion powder
1 2 pound tri-tip steak
Heat your gas grill to high and heat oven to 400 degrees F. In a small bowl, combine the salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder and onion powder. Mix well and rub all over the tri-tip. Grill tri-tip on both sides, being sure to develop grill marks. Transfer tri-tip to a baking sheet and then bake it in the oven until the internal temperature reaches 135 degrees F, about 20 minutes. Set tri-tip on a cutting board and let the meat rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
